It's Friday! That means it's time for a Family and Fun post that sums up our week.
It looks like our household is clear of illness, although thankfully it never went much further than light sniffles, a fever and some red cheeks. This week has stayed interesting though. William is getting his 2 year molars and it has been rough for him. Elora has had a few difficult days as well. She has a chronic autoimmune disease call Juvenile Idopathic Arthritis. While it has been generally well managed, illness is often a trigger for flares. She seems to be experiencing some widespread pain and fatigue, which ultimately makes her sullen and irritable.
It's so hard to see your child's personality flip overnight and to know what's causing it. She is very determined and pushed herself through most of her favorite activities. She even had some great days at school, which I'll talk about on Montessori Monday. Generally these episodes don't last too long so hopefully she'll be back to her old self by next week.
Despite our challenges it was a pretty good week. We are still focusing on making this a house where grace abounds. God is continuing to bless us in our quest.
Here are a few of this week's highlights:
We love the Pop-Up Pirate game by Tomy. The concept is so simple that even our 2 year old can play. Every one takes turns inserting pirate swords. One slot makes the pirate pop out. It was great for teaching the kids to take turns and it took some skill to get the sword in the slot.
The pirate pop isn't too scary. In fact, here's William laughing after a pirate pop.
Elora has had her glasses for a little over a month. She still doesn't like wearing them and removes them frequently. They were lost for a better part of the week. We thoroughly searched the usual spots and eventually located them under my nightstand. She was excited to have them back but removed them less than 10 minutes later and set them on the floor. William stepped on them and the result is below. Fortunately, I was able to bend the frames back and screw the lens back in. She was very upset about the incident. I'm hopeful that it will be incentive to keep them on or at least place them on a safe spot as we are trying to teach her.
Elora loves working on a new dinosaur floor puzzle from Grandma. Puzzles are one of Elora's favorite past times. She's quite good at it too and is up to 100 piece puzzle all by herself. This one in particular has 48 pieces.
Here's Lockelan snuggled into my Sleepy Wrap, which ranks as one of my favorite baby products of all time. I tried a Moby style wrap in the past but this brand has spandex in it. It makes it simple to get a snug fit, even for a big guy.
Elora is practicing her dance routine, which is a song from Tangled. Does the lantern give you a clue as to which one? She was feel pretty bad at dance class but she tried to go through the motions.
I hope that everyone has a lovely weekend! See you on Monday.
